I’m adding this project as new, so interested residents can keep track of it. I also a linked a summary of the community meeting held on September 29, 2026.

The City of Dover is upgrading the water and sewer service on Littleworth Road and Old Littleworth Road. The existing water main is over 90 years old and has reached end-of-life. Both roads will be repaved, and the project is expected to finish in Q3 2027.

Why it Matters

The existing cast iron water main on Littleworth Road has reached the end of its serviceable life after a century of use. Upgrading to a new, larger ductile iron main will ensure reliable water service and improved fire hydrant infrastructure for the community. Additionally, the installation of brand-new sewer mains on Old Littleworth Road will connect property owners to the City’s public sewer system.

The Big Picture

This project will take place in two main phases between October 2026 and August 2027. Crews will replace the aging 8-inch pipe with a 12-inch water main along Littleworth Road (NH Route 9) and Old Littleworth Road, installing new services to the property lines without interrupting current water access. The work also includes targeted road repaving, intersection milling, and a full-width repaving of Old Littleworth Road. Throughout the project, commuters should expect single-lane alternating traffic controlled by flaggers on the main highway, while Old Littleworth Road will be restricted to local traffic only with brief, temporary disruptions to driveway access.

Take Action

Residents living within the construction zone are encouraged to contact the City for any bulky item trash disposal to ensure successful pickup. If you have purchased bulky item tags, call Community Services at (603) 516-6450 before your regular trash day so the city can coordinate with Waste Management around the active work zones. Residents are encouraged to remain alert for direct notices from construction crews regarding exactly when their specific driveways will be temporarily blocked by trenching work.
